Two sentenced to jail in anti-drug drive in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court during an anti-drug drive sentenced a female drug dealer and a drug addict to jail in Raipura Upazila of the district. 

The mobile court was conducted on Tuesday (August 26) afternoon in the Rajnagar municipal area of Raipura upazila, under the supervision of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Masud Rana.

Inspector Mofazzal Hossain of the Department of Narcotics Control to Narsingdi district office, and his team assisted in the operation. 

Locals expressed satisfaction over such initiatives by the administration against drug abuse.

UNO of Raipura Upazila, Masud Rana said that acting on secret information, the team arrested a drug user named Kala Mia (40) red-handed while smoking marijuana in the municipal area of Raipura upazila. In addition, a female drug dealer named Rushana (60) from the same area was arrested with 100 grams of marijuana.

Later, the mobile court fined Kala Mia Tk 500 and sentenced him to two months of simple imprisonment. The female drug dealer was fined Tk 500 and sentenced to six months of simple imprisonment. Both convicts were sent to jail under court warrant. Similar operations will continue in the future.
