Two get life term in Jamalpur murder case

JAMALPUR, April 9, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced two people to 
life term imprisonment in a murder case in Sadar upazila here in 1998.

The court also acquitted ten others from the case as the charges brought against 
them were not proven.

The convicted persons are Lebu Miah, son of Ijjat Ali of Hasil Jaliarpara village 
and Majnu, son of Gias Uddin, a resident of Dewlabari village in Jamalpur Sadar 
upazila.

According to prosecution, the convicts abducted Rafiqul Islam Gadu from Hasil 
Jaliarpara village on the night of December 23, 1998 and killed him and dumped 
the body in a septic tank. Police recovered the body on December 28, 1998.

Additional District and Session Judge Md Abubakar Sidddique after examining 
19 witnesses and relevant documents found them guilty and gave the 
punishment.

The court also fined them Taka 20,000 each, in default, to suffer two months 
more in jail.
