BOGURA, May 10, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested notorious terrorist and drug dealer Jhumur Sarkar from the Dhunat Mor area of Sherpur Upazila of the district early today.

Jhumur Sarkar is the son of Mojibur Rahman Sarkar of the Chalk Sutrapur Kasai Para area of the city and he is also the brother of councilor Matin.

In-charge of Bogra DB Iqbal Bahar confirmed the matter.

Police said, “A group of terrorists launched a surprise attack on a peaceful procession of students and the public in the city during the anti-discrimination student led-movement last year on August 4. Along with the explosion of cocktails and petrol bombs, they also opened fire with pistols and cut rifles.”

During the attack, Md. A. Mannan, 72, was shot and killed.

A case was filed with the Sadar Police Station on September 11 following the incident. Jhumur Sarkar was one of the absconding accused in this case.

“A total of 10 cases, including charges of murder, drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion and assault, are pending trial against Jhumur Sarkar in the court. He has been sent to jail through the court today,” said in-charge Iqbal Bahar.
