KHULNA, Aug 23, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers with 1,199 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Sachibunia Bypass Road in the city on Saturday.

The detainees were Md. Riad, son of Abul Kalam of Nijkhamar Kalitala under Labanchora Police Station, and Md. Parvez, son of Muktar Hawlader of Goborchaka under Sonadanga Police Station in the city.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Pradip Baidya of Labanchora Police Station said acting on a tip-off, police set up a check-post at Sachibunia Bypass Road in the morning and started searching passengers of different buses. Around 11 am, two men got down from a Tungipara Express AC bus and tried to walk away suspiciously.

Police intercepted them and found 1,199 yaba pills inside one of their bags, he said.

The arrested were later sent to Labanchora Police Station, he said, adding that a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
