Court orders publication of newspaper notice summoning Hasina, 261 others

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today ordered authorities concerned to publish notices on newspapers, asking 262 people including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to appear before it in a case filed for making attempt to dislodge the current interim government and carry out anti-state activities.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order today as complainant CID assistant superintendant of police Md Enamul Haque filed a petition in this connection. The court set November 11 as the date of appearance of the fugitive accused.

The other prominent accused in the case are Dr Rabbi Alam, Kabirul Islam, Advocate Kamrul Islam, Elahi Newaz Masum, Zakir Hossain Ziku, Professor Taheruzzaman, AKM Akhteruzzaman, Azida Parvin Pakhi, Shaheen, Advocate AFM Didarul Islam, Maksudur Rahman, Syeda Rubina Akter, Pankaj Nath,  Layla Banu, Saddam Hossain, Ritu Akter, Nurunnabi Nibir, Sabina Begum and Shariful Islam Ramzan.

Earlier, the court accepted a police plea to show 24 of the total 286 accused, arrested in the case. After that police filed the plea to summon the remaining 262 fugitives.

According to the case documents, on December 19, 2024, during an online meeting on a digital platform Zoom, a group called “Joy Bangla Brigade” was formed. Participants expressed their determination to restore fugitive Sheikh Hasina to the office of Prime Minister through a civil war and to continue fighting until the last breath to ensure her reinstatement.
 
A total of 577 participants joined the cybernetic meet from various locations of home and abroad, unanimously expressing their commitment to follow all directives of Sheikh Hasina.
