
RANGPUR, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - The eight-day Divisional Book Fair-2025 concluded at the Rangpur Public Library premises on Tuesday with calls to promote reading habits among the new generation.
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, speaking as chief guest, said there is no alternative to books in building an enlightened and prosperous nation.
"For this, guardians must play an important role in making their children book-oriented and ensuring quality education," he said.
The National Book Center organized the fair, opened from 18 November, 2025 under the management of the Divisional Commissioner's Office and with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Book Publishers and Sellers Association.
A total of 83 stalls were set up at the fair, which remained open daily from 2:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Rangpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ramiz Alam presided over the event.
Rangpur Divisional Director of the Local Government Division Md Abu Jafar, Rangpur Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Abdul Motaleb Sarkar and National Book Center Deputy Director Md Farid Uddin Sarkar were present as special guests.
Later, certificates and gifts were distributed among winners of various competitions, followed by a cultural programme.
Government officials, prominent writers of Rangpur, journalists and students attended the event.
