
KHULNA, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a workshop today stressed the significance of the Social Development Foundation (SDF) maternity and cesarean allowance program, describing it as timely and humanitarian.
They also called for expanding the project's broader initiatives including poverty alleviation, skill development training, food security, one-time grants for disadvantaged groups, rural infrastructure improvement and employment opportunities for unemployed youth to ensure wider community benefits.
The divisional-level stakeholders' workshop on health and nutrition, organized under the SDF and RELI projects, was held at the conference hall of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
Arun Kumar Mondal, Regional Manager of MEL and MSI, conducted the event. Dr. Kazi Md. Ainul Haque, Director of KMCH, attended as the chief guest.
SDF Regional Director Md. Kamal Bashar outlined the workshop's objectives and goals, while Dr. Kayemun Akhter Muna, Regional Director (Health & Nutrition), presented updates on ongoing health and nutrition activities.
The event was presided over by KMCH Superintendent Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman.
Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Mahfuza Khatun, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Dr. Syeda Rukhsana Parvin, Dr. Tarun Kanti Dash and Md. Jobayer Hossain spoke at the workshop, among others.
