Agri-incentive distributed to 4,500 farmers in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 4,500 small and marginal farmers of the district have received free seeds and fertilizers under the government's incentive and rehabilitation programme aimed at boosting Boro rice cultivation in the current fiscal year.

The distribution programme was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom, jointly organized by the Upazila Administration and the Sadar Upazila Agriculture Office.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer M. Rakibul Hasan presided over the event while Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Md. Liakat Hossain moderated the programme. 

Agriculture specialist Bidhan Roy, Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension addressed the ceremony as the keynote speaker.

Agriculture Officer Mafroza Akhter said that in the 2025-26 fiscal year, 8,000 kg of hybrid Boro paddy seeds had been distributed free of cost among 4,000 farmers. Additionally, 5 kg of Ufshi Boro seeds and 10 kg of DAP and MOP fertilizers were provided to 330 farmers under the same programme.

According to officials, these inputs will enable 4,330 farmers to cultivate 4,330 bighas of land, significantly increasing Boro paddy production in Sadar upazila.
