Two to die in Cox's Bazar drug case

COX'S BAZAR, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two people to death and two others to life term imprisonment in a drug case in Cox's Bazar. 

Judge of District and Sessions Judge's Court Abdur Rahman delivered the verdict on Tuesday afternoon. 

The death row convicts are - Noor Mustafa, son of Mohammad Hosan of Kutupalong Rohingya Camp in Ukhia and Sona Mia, son of the late Najir Ahmed of Kutubdia Para in Cox's Bazar town. 

The two people who were sentenced to life imprisonment are - Abdul Gafur, son of late Kalu Mia of Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhia and Md. Ayub Prakash Tayyab, son of late Mohammad Alam of the same area.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter.

According to prosecution, on March 2, 2020, Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a raid and arrested 5 people along with 190,000 yaba pills and a microbus. 

Mizanur Rahman, the then police inspector of DB at Ramu Police Station, filed a case as the plaintiff in this regard. 

The court also acquitted another person as the charge brought against him was not proven.
