CHATTOGRAM, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has initiated a campaign to address the issue of obstructing pedestrian movement by occupying the footpath and dumping shop goods in the Batali Road area of the city.

As part of the campaign, the CCC has fined Taka 18,000 as eight establishments occupied footpaths in the port city.

A drive was conducted on Monday by CCC Executive Magistrate Chaiti Sarvabidya to address irregularities in shops and business establishments occupying footpaths.

Legal action was taken against those obstructing public movement by placing goods on the footpath for extended periods. CCC Public Relations Officer Aziz Ahmed told BSS that this initiative aims to ensure smooth pedestrian movement and that running businesses on footpaths is not in the public's interest. The crackdown on such encroachments will continue as part of CCC's ongoing efforts.
