Accused in Ripu murder case arrested in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested a fugitive accused in the Ripu Akhtar murder case from Banshkhali upazila.

The arrested, Md. Muktar Hossain, 40, is the son of late Azam Ullah, from North Jaldi village of Banshkhali.

According to RAB-7, Ripu Akhtar, the wife of Nur Mohammad from Lashkarpara area of Banshkhali Municipality and the accused were close relatives. 

The victim's father's family had an ongoing property dispute with the accused. Two days before the incident, Ripu had visited her father's home.

On October 23, the accused verbally abused Ripu while she was walking in the house courtyard. When she objected, the attackers assaulted her with sticks, iron rods, and bricks, leaving her critically injured. Ripu was taken to the hospital where doctor declared her dead. 

Following the incident, Nur Mohammad filed a murder case at Banshkhali Police Station.

The accused was handed over to Banshkhali Police Station for further investigation.
