Army arrested UPDF member with arms from Lakhmichhari

KHAGRACHHARI, May 11, 2025 (BSS) - The army personnel of Lakhmichhari zone today arrested a member of United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF) from the area and recovered a country-made gun and some other belongings from his possession.

Two army teams of the zone conducted a raid at a house in East Nabhanga area under Dullatoli union and arrested one Jibon Chakma. They also recovered a country made gun, three round of bullet, a pair of uniform, two mobile phones, a note book and a national identity card from his possession.

The army personnel later handed over Jibon to Lakhmichhari Thana for further action.

Police said arrested Jibon Chakma is an active member of UPDF Prosit group and was involved in extortion in the area for long time. He will be produced before the court soon.

A case was filed with Lakhmichhari Thana against Jibon in this connection.

Lieutenant Colonel Md Tajul Islam, Commanding Officer (CO) of Lakhmichhari zone said that the Army is always ready to maintain peace and stability in the hilly area. Such operations against terrorists and extortionists would be continued here in future, the CO added.
