NARAIL, May 11, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested three individuals along with firearms and locally-made weapons during a raid at Paschimpara area of Purulia union under Kalia upazila, early this morning.

The arrested were identified as Md. Anis Sheikh, 45, UP member of the union and son of Sultan Sheikh; Nazim Uddin Sheikh, 38, son of Abdur Razzak and Md. Chanchal Molla, 36, son of Enamul Molla.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalia Police Station, confirmed the arrests and the seizure.

During the operation, police recovered a locally-made pistol, 22 rounds of live ammunition, cartridge-making materials and a variety of traditional weapons including two Chinese axes, two knives, seven swords, five spears, one teta (a type of spear), two bows with arrows, three machetes, twenty sarki (another spear), four shields and two shotgun covers.

A case has been filed against the trio under the Arms Act, the OC added.
