CHATTOGRAM, May 12, 2025 (BSS) - A farmer was struck and killed by a thunderbolt while he was working in his vegetable field at Purba Shilkup Khetkhola in Shilkup Union under Banskhali upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Feroz, 60, son of the late Yakub, who hailed from Purba Shilkup Khetkhola in Shilkup Union of the upazila.
According to local police, Feroz was reportedly planting flowers in his own kankrol field at Purba Shilkup Khetkhola this morning.
A thunderbolt suddenly hit and killed Feroz at around 9am today.
Locals rushed him to the Banskhali Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Sudhangshu Shekhar Halder, Inspector (Investigation) of Banshkhali Police Station, said they received information about the death of a farmer in Shilkup Union due to lightning strike.
He said they would file a general diary in this regard.
