Speakers call for strengthening maternal and infant care services

RAJSHAHI, May 13, 2025 (BSS)- Speakers at a view-sharing meeting in Rajshahi unequivocally called for strengthening the existing services of maternal and infant care for the greater interest of attaining trust and confidence of the public in general in this field.

Terming the role of field-level workers as very vital in this context they urged the family planning people to render their services with utmost sincerity and honesty so that the people, particularly the remotest and hard-to-reach ones, can derive total benefits of their services.

Rajshahi divisional office of the Department of Family Planning (DFP) organized the daylong meeting on 'Management Information System (MIS)' at its office conference hall here Monday.

With DFP Divisional Director Dr Kustary Amina Queen in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by MIS Director Abdur Razzaque, Lime Director Khandaker Shafiqul Islam and Assistant Director Shahidul Islam.

DFP Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors from all eight districts in the division joined the meeting discussing and devising ways and means on how to make their respective works successful.

Illustrating their mandates, missions and visions the meeting was told that the DFP has been providing various reproductive healthcares, including maternal, antenatal, delivery, postnatal, neonatal, menstrual regulation, post-operative, maternal nutrition and adolescent reproductive, everywhere in the country.

In her remarks, Dr Kustary Amina Queen said the DFP has been implementing MIS activities in many of the upazilas, while e-MIS in some other upazilas in the country.

She also said steps have been taken to launch e-MIS activities in all upazilas.

MIS Director Abdur Razzaque said the MIS has been playing a vital role towards providing data and reports on family planning program performance and service delivery, enabling effective monitoring, evaluation, and decision-making.

Improving the quality and availability of family planning services, contributing to health, population, and nutrition outcomes is its mission.

Besides, the vision is to ensure quality and accessible health education and affordable family planning services for all.
