Brick-laden trolley overturns in Narsingdi, driver killed, one injured

NARSINGDI, 13 May 2025 (BSS) -- A trolley driver was killed and another person was injured after a brick-laden trolley overturned in Monohardi upazila of the district.

The deceased, Rubel Mia, 22, was the son of Abdus Sobhan from Rudradi village under Kachikata union in the same upazila. The injured, Hridoy, 20, is the son of Abu Taher from Tongirteck village in Belabo upazila. 

The accident took place around 7:30am on Tuesday (May 13) in front of Chandarbari Islamia Kamil Madrasa on the Monohardi Bazar-Hospital Road. 

According to police and locals, Rubel was heading towards Monohardi Bazar with a trolley full of bricks. Upon reaching in front of the madrasa, he lost control and the engine of the trolley overturned. Rubel was crushed under the engine and died on the spot.

Three other workers were also on the trolley. They jumped off when it lost balance. One of them, Hridoy, was injured. He is currently undergoing treatment at Monohardi Upazila Health Complex.

Police and fire service personnel recovered Rubel's body after being informed.

Md Abdul Jabbar, officer-in-charge of Monohardi Police Station, said, "We have rescued the body and kept it at our police station. Further action will be taken once his family arrives."
