RANGPUR, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD-Marxist) leaders have demanded speedy trial and punishment of the perpetrators of the July massacre to eradicate fascism and build a discrimination-free Bangladesh.

They were addressing a protest rally organized by the party's district unit at the Press Club premises in Rangpur yesterday afternoon, demanding effective trial for the July massacre, proper treatment and rehabilitation of the injured July fighters, and democratic elections following necessary reforms.

BSD district convener Anwar Hossain Bablu presided over the rally, while member-secretary Ahsanul Arefin Teetoo, member Suresh Basfor and other leaders addressed the gathering.

The BSD leaders said that their party has participated in the anti-fascist struggle with all its might.

Ahsanul Arefin Teetoo said that history shows how deeply society is affected when those involved in genocide are not brought to justice.

"Therefore, we have been demanding an effective and speedy trial for the 2024 massacre, along with improved treatment and rehabilitation of the injured," he said.

The Awami League, as a party, along with its leaders and activists, has shown no remorse for the July massacre. On the contrary, they are questioning the July uprising in various ways. Sheikh Hasina is delivering speeches online from India, defending the massacre.

"For this reason, the Awami League has no moral right to do politics in Bangladesh. As a party, the Awami League must apologize to the nation for their actions," he added.

Anwar Hossain Bablu said the Awami League leaders and activists and members of its front organizations involved in the July massacre must be brought to justice and their punishment enforced.

"The future of the Awami League will be determined through this process," he said.
