RANGAMATI, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Around 30 shops were gutted in a fire at Muslim Block Bazaar in Baghaichhari upazila of the district early this morning.

The fire broke out from a cloth shop of the market around 1am and engulfed the adjacent shops, said Baghaichhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir.

At least 30 shops, including grocery, cloth, medicine and tea stalls were gutted in the fire, he added.

The fire may originated from an electrical short circuit and spread to nearby shops immediately.

As there is no fire service station in the upazila, local people, police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members brought the fire under control after about an hour and a half hours of effort.
