One held with Tk 5 lakh counterfeit notes in Khulna

KHULNA, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested a youth with counterfeit currency at the Sachibinia Biswa Road area here today in the city.

Based on information that a youth is coming from Dhaka in a bus with huge counterfeit currency to spread those notes in Khulna cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul Azha, a police team set a check post at the Biswa road intersection here, Md Yousuf Ali, Officer-in-Charge (Inspection) of Labonchara police station confirmed.

The police team arrested Khorshed Alam, 48, son of Ramzan Ali, resident of the Majertak area under Bishwamvarpur upazila of Sunamganj district, after searching a bus named 'Tungipara Express,' at the check post.

Police seized counterfeit currency Tk 5 lakh from his possession in this drive, OC said.

A case was filed with Labonchara police station in this connection, he added.
