Man, daughter-in-law electrocuted in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, May 21, 2025 (BSS) – A man and his daughter-in-law died and his wife was injured from electrocution at Itapir village of Chaprasaramjani union in Sadar upazila here today.

The deceased were Solaiman Hussain, 63, and his daughter-in-law Shabana Akhter, 29, residents of the area. 

The incident occurred when an electric wire snapped and fell on Solaiman and his daughter-in-law around 2.30 pm while they were replacing an old pillar of their house. 

When both of them got electrocuted, Solaiman's wife Watunnesa came forward to rescue them and she too got an electric shock.

Solaiman and his daughter-in-law died on the spot, said Chairman of Chaprasaramjani Union Parishad Md. Jahangir Alam Shah.

Seriously injured Watunnesa was taken to Nilphamari General Hospital. 

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station MR Sayeed said this afternoon, "Two people died at the scene after getting electrocuted while repairing houses. One person has been admitted to Nilphamari General Hospital.”
