Youth dies in Pirojpur lightning strike

PIROJPUR, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - A youth was killed in lightning strike at Bhechki village under Tikikata union of Mathbaria upazila of the district today.

The deceased was Md. Shakil Akon, 17, son of Yusuf Akon of the same village.

Thunderbolt struck Shakil when he was going to take his cattle during rain from the nearby field of their house around 11.00 am, ‎said Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC of Mathbaria Police Station.

Later, locals rescued him and took him to the upazila health complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
