Two gold traders killed in Rajbari road accident

RAJBARI, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Two gold traders were killed after a sand-laden drum truck collided with their motorcycle on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional highway at Pansha upazila in the district this afternoon.

The accident occurred in Naopara area near the Machpara bus stand around 2:30 pm, according to local police.

The deceased were Md Korban Sheikh, 55, and Ashok Kumar Roy, 60, both of the Kamalapur area in Khoksha municipality of Kushtia.

The two, who were neighbors and business associates, had traveled to Pansha earlier in the day to attend a Mahajan Halkhata program.

Md Bakul Hossain, a neighbor of the victims, said the duo was returning home from the event when a speeding sand-laden drum truck from Kushtia rammed into their motorcycle.

Locals rushed to the scene and took the injured men to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctors declared them dead.

Dr Tansusma of Pangsha Upazila Health Complex confirmed that both victims had succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital.

Pangsha Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salauddin stated that law enforcement is currently working to identify the killer-truck and apprehend its driver.
