FENI, May 22, 2025 (BSS) - A student drowned in a pond of Feni Polytechnic Institute on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was Saiful Islam Raju, a first-year student of Feni Polytechnic Institute for the 2024-25 academic year and resident of Shahrasti upazila in Chandpur district.
The institute’s security officer Rafiqul Islam said Raju and some other students were taking a bath in the pond after playing on the institute ground. Suddenly Raju drowned in the water body.
Raju was immediately rescued and taken to Feni General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, said M Shamsuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Feni Model Police Station.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Feni General Hospital morgue for postmortem.
