3 arrested in Panchagarh’s sensational Javed murder case

RANGPUR, Aug 22, 2025 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested three prime accused killers in the sensational Javed Umar Joy murder case of Panchagarh from the Boro Math area under Kotwali police station of Dinajpur on Thursday night.
 
The arrested accused are - Md Noor Rabbi, 26, and Md Abu Taleb, 25, both residents of Notunbasti Rajnagar and Md Kamal Hossain, 40, of Notunbasti Khalpara under Sadar upazila of Panchagarh, a press release said this afternoon.
 
Quoting the case statement, the release said that the victim Javed Umar Joy and his friends protested against the drug dealing and extortion of the accused in the area.
 
In the context of the incident, the accused called the victim through a mobile phone in front of the Cinema Hall Market under Sadar Police Station in Panchagarh district town at around 8:15 pm on August 6, 2025. 
 
With a premeditated intention to kill Javed Umar, the accused people stabbed him in the stomach and various parts of his body with sharp knives causing serious injuries to him and left the scene.
 
Local people rushed the victim to the Panchagarh Modernised Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors referred him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment. 
 
Later, the victim died on way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital that same night.
 
In this incident, the victim's elder brother filed a murder case with Panchagarh Sadar Police Station on August 8, 2025. 
 
On a tip off, a joint team of RAB-13’s Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 from Nilphamari and CPC-2 from Dinajpur conducted a raid in the Boro Math area of Dinajpur district and arrested the three accused persons at 9.30 pm on Thursday. 
 
The arrested accused persons were later handed over to Panchagarh Sadar Police Station for further action, the release added.
