Smuggled goods worth Tk 20 lakh seized in Sherpur

SHERPUR, July 10, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized huge quantity of smuggled Indian cosmetics from Karnajora border in Sribardi upazila of the district this morning.

On a tip-off, a team of Mymensingh BGB-39 Battalion conducted a drive around 6 am in the border area and seized 6,432 pieces of Ponds face wash worth Taka 20 lakh, BGB sources said.

Sensing the presence of the BGB, the smugglers fled away leaving behind the goods.

Commander of the battalion Lt. Col. Mehedi Hasan PPM said BGB has always been vigilant in protecting the borders of Sherpur and preventing any kind of illegal activities. Such operations will continue in the future.
