4 held with 39 kg of ganja in CTG

CHATTOGRAM, July 10, 2025 (BSS)-Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four alleged drug peddlers along with 39 kilograms of ganja from the city's Kaptai Rasthar Matha area under Chandgaon thana.

The arrestees were identified as Sagar Sardar, 38, Rubel Sardar, 34, Md. Shahadat Hossain Ripon, 36, and Md. Zafar, 45.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) of RAB-7, ARM Mozaffar Hossain, confirmed the matter today, stating that the drive was conducted on Wednesday night in the Kaptai Road area under Chandgaon police station.

Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team conducted the drive and arrested the four individuals suspected of being involved in drug trading in the area.

Later, based on the information, RAB recovered 39 kg of ganja wrapped in three travel bags and one white plastic bag sealed with Scotch tape from a rented tin-shed house in Kashem Colony, located in the middle of the city.

During primary interrogation, the detainees reportedly admitted to collecting the narcotic substance from bordering areas of Cumilla district and selling it to different drug dealers and users in Chattogram city and district for a higher profit.

The estimated market value of the recovered ganja is Tk six lakh.

The arrestees were handed over to Chandgaon police station for further legal action.
