KHULNA, July, 11, 2025 (BSS) – Unidentified miscreants shot dead an ex-Jubodal leader in the city here today.

The deceased was identified as Mahbubur Rahman, 40, ex-vice president of Daulatpur thana unit of Jubodal, the youth front of BNP.

Miscreants shot dead Mahbubur Rahman at Moheswarpasa Pashimpara area under Daulatpur police station in the city.

Police and local people said three miscreants wearing helmets arrived by a motorcycle in front of his residence before the Zumma prayer.

At that time Mahbub was washing his car and the miscreants shot him from point-blank range. As Mahbubur fell down on the street the criminals cut his tendon to confirm his death and left the spot immediately.

Local people rushed Mahbubur to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where the duty doctor declared him dead.

OC of Daulatpur thana Mir Atahar Ali said, they recovered four empty cartridges from the spot. Police started haunting the killers, he said.

Mahbubur Rahman, son of Md Abdul Karim Molla, was expelled from Jubodal recently centering on a clash between two groups of students at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) in February this year.

OC said there are as many as eight cases in the record of Doulatpur thana against Mahbub on alleged link with drugs and other criminal activities.

Senior police officials visited the spot while BNP president of Khulna city unit Shafiqul Alam Mona and Jubodal leaders visited the KMCH.
