Woman held with huge hemp in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch of Police in a drive recovered huge amount of hemp and arrested an alleged drug peddler from Melandah upazila of the district early today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted a raid at Rayer Bakai village under Phulkocha union of the upazila and recovered 74 kilograms of hemp, worth around Taka 22.20 lakh.

Later, police arrested Mst Suzeda, 38, wife of Belal Miah of the village in this connection, said Officer-in-charge, District Detective Branch, Md Nazmus Sakib

A case was filed with Melandah Police Station in this regard, he added.
