Court sends two murder case accused in jail

PIROJPUR, July 23, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sent two fugitive accused of Rokeya Begum murder case at Zolagati village in Kawkhali upazila of the district in jail.

Earlier, Kawkhali police produced the accused before the court and the court sent them in jail, Officer-in-Charge of Kawkhali Police Station Md Solaiman Hossain said.

He said a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a drive arrested two absconding accused of the murder case from Darus Salam area in the city on July 21.
Hossain said that the absconding accused were identified as Md Abdus Sobhan (50) and Rahela Begum (42) of Zolagati village in Kawkhali upazila of the district. On Tuesday, the CTTC team handed them over to Kawkhali Police.

According to the murder case filed with Kawkhali Police Station, a rival group of Rokeya Begum’s neighbor beat her with iron rod centering land dispute on May 28, 2025 leaving her seriously injury. Later, she was died on the way to Khulna 250-bed hospital for treatment.

The deceased daughter Nasrin Akter filed a murder case with Kawkhali Police Station in this connection against six identified and 3-4 unidentified people, the case details said. 

The officer in-charge said police has so far arrested three suspects in this murder case. Drive is underway to arrest other accused of the case.
