BAGERHAT, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Consumer Rights Protection on Wednesday sealed a factory producing adulterated cosmetics in the BSCIC industrial area of Bagerhat and fined its owner Tk 1.5 lakh.

Sharifa Sultana, Assistant Director of the Consumer Rights Protection Department in Bagerhat, led the operation with a joint forces team.

Officials said the factory, permitted to produce only three items, was manufacturing several cosmetics without BSTI approval. The plot had originally been leased as a tin factory but was later sublet to cosmetics trader Mizanur Rahman, who fled during the raid, leaving two workers behind.

BSCIC Promotion Officer Md. Sharif Sardar said such drives will continue to ensure product quality and prevent adulteration.
