RAJSHAHI, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) have sought wholehearted cooperation from all quarters for successful and peaceful celebrations of the forthcoming Durga Puja.

RMP high ranking officials came up with the call while addressing a law and order meeting related to the Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for the Hindu Community, at its headquarters conference hall today.

Apart from the RMP officials, leaders and members of puja udjapon committees, Hindu Kallyan Trust, public representatives and others concerned joined the meeting.

With RMP Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufiyan in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by RMP Deputy Commissioner Khorshed Alam and RAB-5 Commanding Officer Lt Col Masud Parvej.

The meeting was told that the Durga Puja will be held at 103 mondaps in the RMP areas this year.

In his remarks, RMP Commissioner Abu Sufiyan assured of extending all possible security support to the puja celebration everywhere in the RMP areas. Already, vigilance activities have been intensified, he added.

He urged the puja committee leaders to set up closed circuit cameras in the important puja mandaps alongside metal detectors in the main entrances.

There should be separate gates for male and female. "We are determined to celebrate the religious festival amid enthusiasm and communal harmony," he added.

Commissioner Abu Sufiyan asked the officer-in-charge (OC) of the police stations to keep close coordination with the puja committee round the clock. He also gave instructions to the traffic division to enhance traffic management.

"We have to put in our level best efforts to ensure communal harmony for all faiths in each of the puja mandaps," he added.
