CHANDPUR, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust has distributed cheques worth around Taka 13 lakh among 19 journalists in Chandpur district.
The Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized a cheque distribution programme at the Chandpur Press Club auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.
Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust Muhammad Abdullah was present as the chief guest.
In his speech the chief guest said that Taka 2.20 crore is being given to 320 journalists from 64 districts of the country from the Welfare Trust.
This grant is given every three months. A total of 19 applications from journalists were accepted by maintaining transparency in the selection process.
“We are always trying to stand by the deprived and sick journalists,” he said.
He highlighted the various problems faced by journalists across the country and the type of supports provided by the Welfare Trust.
He also said that the Trust is trying to arrange monthly allowances for senior and elderly journalists.
Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mohsin Uddin presided over the event.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Abdur Rakib, Chandpur Municipal Administrator Golam Zakaria, Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust member Shahin Hasnat, District Information Officer Tapan Bepari and Chandpur Press Club President Rahim Badsha delivered speeches as special guests, moderated by General Secretary of Chandpur Press Club Kader Palash.
