CHANDPUR, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard has recovered locally made firearms and sharp weapons during a special operation in Chandpur.

Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Hoque confirmed the development in a press release issued today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Chandpur station conducted an operation on Monday night near the Mohanpur launch terminal under North Matlab Police Station, where a group of robbers was reportedly preparing to carry out a robbery.

As the Coast Guard team approached the area around 11:30 pm, the suspects fled the scene. During the search, the team recovered one homemade firearm, two machetes, and two Chinese axes, which were left behind.

Legal action regarding the seized weapons is underway, the release added.
