CHATTOGRAM, Oct 7, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) have arrested the main accused, Md Mobarak Hossain (35), in the Phul Mia murder case filed with Bayezid Bostami Police Station in the city.
Acting on a tip-off, the elite force conducted a raid in the Bibirhat Bazar area under Panchlaish Police Station on Sunday night and arrested Mobarak, said Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of RAB-7 ARM Mozaffar Hossain.
He said the arrestee was later handed over to Bayezid Bostami Police Station for further legal action.
The victim, Phul Mia, was a bus helper from Manikchhari upazila of Khagrachhari and lived with his family in a rented house in the Maijpara area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station.
The incident occurred on September 28 following a dispute between Phul Mia and house owner Mobarak Hossain over water and electricity connections. Mobarak and his associates allegedly beat Phul Mia, leaving him unconscious. He was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where an on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Later, Mobarak and his associates allegedly stole the body from the hospital and left it on the ground floor of the house before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, Phul Mia's wife filed a case with the Bayezid Bostami Police Station, accusing seven people.
