Classical Music Evening to mark Ustad Alauddin Khan's 163rd birth anniversary tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 7, 2025 (BSS) - A special classical music evening will be held  tomorrow at the historic Lalbagh Fort in old city, as part of celebrating the  163rd birth anniversary of South Asian classical legend and music maestro 
Ustad Alauddin Khan.

Chief Adviser to the Interim Government of Bangladesh Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus  will inaugurate the event through a video message, said a press release here  this evening. 

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed will be present as the chief guest while  Cultural Adviser Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui will also be present at the event.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) under the initiative of the Ministry of  Cultural Affairs (MoCA) will organise the event marking the 163rd birth anniversary of Ustad Alauddin Khan at 7 pm tomorrow.

The programme is part of the Ministry's ongoing initiative to pay tribute to  legendary figures, who have made extraordinary contributions to Bangladesh's art and cultural heritage.

The evening will feature a performance by Ustad Siraj Ali Khan, the great-grandson of Ustad Alauddin Khan. He will be accompanied by Archik 
Bandyopadhyay on tabla [hand drums].

Besides, a group of talented young artists will also perform, adding new energy to the celebration of the maestro's legacy.
