Seeds, fertilizers distributed among 5,500 farmers in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - Seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed today among 5,500 small and marginal farmers of Sadar upazila here under the government's Agriculture Incentive Programme.

Seeds of different varieties of pulses, oil, nuts and onion, including wheat, and fertilizers-- diammonium phosphate (DAP) and 10-kg of Muriate of Potash (MOP)-- were distributed among the farmers of different unions under the upazila. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hosne Ara inaugurated the distribution programme held on the premises of the Upazila Parishad (UP) around 10 am. 

Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Noor A Nabi, Additional Agriculture Officer Md. Junaid Habib, Agricultural Extension Officer Mir Rakibul Islam and Jhenaidah Press Club President Asif Kajal, among others, were present.

The Agriculture Office said that these fertilizers and seeds were distributed among the marginal farmers listed in all unions of Sadar upazila under the Agricultural Incentive Programme. 

These seeds have been distributed to increase the production of oil, nuts, wheat and pulses in the country during the current Rabi season, the sources added. 

Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Noor-A-Nabi said a total of 24.335 tonnes of seeds and about 100 tonnes of fertilizer were distributed among 5,485 farmers under Sadar upazila in the current Rabi season.
