Two human traffickers arrested in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two human traffickers while trafficking a Bangladeshi woman to India through Satkhira's Taluigacha border.
 
They were arrested from the Kuliyadanga area of the Taluigacha border in Satkhira Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon and the woman was rescued.
 
After filing a case at night, they were handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station.
 
The arrested traffickers are Abul Kalam, 74) son of late Abdul Khalek of Kuliyadanga village in Sadar upazila and his son Md. Imran Hossain, 23.
 
The rescued woman is Setu Akhter, 23, daughter of Zia Sheikh of Dasherdanga village under Lohagara Police Station in Narail district.

On a tip-off, a BGB team from BGB-33 Battalion conducted a raid in the area approximately 3 kilometers inside Bangladesh and arrested the traffickers and rescued the woman, BGB sources said.
 
Satkhira 33 BGB commander Lt. Col. Ashraful confirmed the matter and said that a case was filed mentioning the names of the two arrested human traffickers and 15 other fugitive accused involved in the trafficking, and the rescued woman along with the two traffickers has been handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station.
