Chhatra League activist Gias Uddin arrested in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Police arrested a leader of banned Chhatra League leader from city's Shershah Colony in the early hours of today. 

The arrested was Gias Uddin, 40, of the late Sheikh Ahmed Nabi Chowdhury from Kanai Madari in Chandanaish Upazila. He was an active member of 
Bayezid Bostami Thana Chhatra League and close associate of AJM Nasir Uddin, General Secretary of the Chattogram City Awami League. 

Officer-in-charge (OC) Kamruzzaman said, “A team of Bayezid Bostami Police Station raided a rented house in Shershah Colony in the city and arrested Gias”. 

Police said he was involved in the attack on students and the public 
during the anti-discrimination movement in the New Market area of Chattogram on August 4 last year. 

Residents have accused Gias Uddin of engaging in tender rigging, extortion, and seizing government property for an extended period through his connections. 
Currently, he is occupying these rented houses by allegedly paying bribes to local criminal elements.

Gias Uddin has been handed over to the court and subsequently sent to jail, OC Kamruzzaman confirmed.
