Three children drown in Jamalpur river

JAMALPUR, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - Three children drowned and two others went missing 
while bathing in the Jhinai River at Madarganj upazila in the district this 
afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Md Abu Hossain, 8, and his sister Poli Akter, 
12, children of Dudu Miah of Char Vatiani Madhyapara village in Madarganj 
upazila, and Sayeba Akter, 8, daughter of Nur Islam of Baushi village in 
Sarishabari upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Madarganj Police Station Md Saifullah Saif said five 
children were bathing in the river when they were swept away by the current.

A team of Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel rushed to the spot and 
recovered three bodies around 6 pm, the OC said, adding that Kulsum, 10, 
daughter of Azad Miah, and another yet-unidentified child remain missing.
