Railway communication on Dhaka-Mymensingh resumes after 4 hours

GAZIPUR, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) – The train communication between Dhaka and Mymensingh resumed after suspending it for four hours following derailment of Mohonganj express near Joydebpur junction at 2pm today.

A rear compartment of Mymensingh bound Mohonganj express left from Dhaka derailed when it reached Joydebpur junction at 2pm, said M Quiyum Ali, sub-inspector of Joydebpur Railway Junction police outpost.

The railway communication on the route became normal at around 6pm after conducting rescue operation for four hours.

The train carrying several hundred passengers on board left the capital for Mohonganj of Netrokona and all of a sudden its left wheel of power car compartment derailed when it reached near Joydebpur Junction. 

As result, the train communication between Dhaka and Mymensing route was suspended.
After receiving information, two rescue teams reached the spot and started work at 2.30pm and then the train left the station at 6.10pm after completing the rescue operation at 5.45pm, said the railway sources.

Formation of a probe body was underway to find out the real cause behind the accident.
