Fugitive accused in rape case held in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram District Police arrested a life-term sentenced fugitive accused in a rape case at Ilsha area under Banskhali upazila here early today.

The arrested is Abdul Khalek, son of late Badruzzaman of Ratnapur area under Baharchhara Union in Banskhali upazila of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Banskhali Thana Police conducted a raid in Ilsha area under Banskhali upazila at around 2.30am and arrested Abdul Khaleq.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Banskhali Thana Saiful Islam told BSS that Abdul Khalek, who was convicted of life imprisonment and fined Taka 50,000 in a case under the Women and Children Abuse Act, was apprehended in an operation on Friday night. 

The arrest was made after receiving information that he was residing in the Ilsha area, he said, adding, "He was presented in court on Saturday."
