Motorcyclist, pillion rider killed in Sirajganj road accident

SIRAJGANJ, Nov 7, 2025 (BSS) - Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Raiganj upazila of the district this afternoon. 

The accident occurred around 3:30 pm at the Ghurka Nahar Agro intersection in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Omar Faruk (32), son of Biru Sheikh and Faridul Islam (30), son of Akbar Ali -- both residents of Dumrai village in Chandai Kona Union under Raiganj upazila.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, Omar Faruk and Faridul Islam were heading toward Salanga on a motorcycle to join the campaign of local parliament candidate Ainul Haque. On the way, their motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming goods-laden truck. The impact left the motorcycle completely mangled and both riders critically injured.

Locals immediately rescued them and took them to TMSS Hospital in Bogura, where they succumbed to their injuries around 5:00 pm while undergoing treatment.

Following the accident, angry locals managed to seize the truck involved in the collision.

Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ismail Hossain said, "It was a tragic incident. Legal procedures are underway and necessary action will be taken."
