700 members of Hindu community join BNP in Barguna

BARGUNA, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Around 700 men and women from the Hindu community in Betagi upazila of the district have formally joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The new members were welcomed at a view-exchange meeting held on Friday evening (November 28) on the premises of the Sarbajanin Sri Sri Durga Temple in Jele Para. The event was presided over by freedom fighter Bimal Mistry.

BNP Vice Chairman and party-nominated candidate for the Barguna-2 (Bamna-Patharghata-Betagi) constituency Nurul Islam Mani attended the programme as the chief guest. 

Addressing the gathering, Mani said Bangladesh belongs to people of all faiths, and no religious group should be considered a minority. He also urged voters to support the BNP in the upcoming parliamentary elections. 

Following the discussion, more than 400 men and women from the Hindu community in Jele Para joined the BNP. Later, an additional 300 individuals from the community in Jhilkhola challishghar under Hosnabad union also joined the party. 

Among others, the meeting was addressed by Hiranmoy Sarkar, joint convener of the Barguna District Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Front, Aran Babu, president of the Patharghata Puja Udyapan Front, Fazlul Haque Master, joint convener of the district BNP, Humayun Kabir Mallick, convener of the upazila BNP, Shahjahan Kabir, president of the upazila election committee, Jabedul Islam Jewel, general secretary of district Jubo Dal and Sanaullah Sunny, president of the district Chhatra Dal.
