RANGPUR, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the abductor and rescued the victim schoolgirl of Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj from Barua village under Sadar police station of Lalmonirhat district on Wednesday .
"The arrested main accused abductor is Md Shakib, 20, son of Md Saidul Islam of village Purbo Ambari under Sadar police station of Lalmonirhat district," a press release said.
The release said that the accused met the victim, a regular student of class eight, through social media Facebook and Imo and they had been talking for a long time.
When the victim's family came to know about the matter, they restrained the accused several times.
The accused, enraged by this, forcibly abducted the schoolgirl from the west side of Thanaghat Bridge under Shahjadpur police station in Sirajganj district against her will and took her to an unknown place at 12.55 pm on November 23, 2025.
Later, the victim's mother filed a kidnapping case with Shahjadpur police station in Sirajganj district in this incident on November 29, 2025
Considering the importance of the incident, RAB started intelligence activities along with other law enforcement agencies to rescue the victim and arrest the accused.
On a tip-off, an operational team of the RAB-13's Rangpur Sadar Company conducted a raid in Barua village of Lalmonirhat, arrested the main accused and rescued the victim schoolgirl at 2:30 am on Wednesday.
Later, the elite force handed over the arrested accused and the rescued victim to Shahjadpur police station of Sirajganj for further legal action.
