Corrugated sheet, cash distributed among fire-affected families in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 42 bundles of corrugated tin and Taka 1,26,000 in cash have been distributed among 21 families who lost their homes in a devastating fire in Nawabganj upazila of the district.

The assistance was handed over at 11 am today at Maharajpur Guchchagram in Mahmudpur union of the upazila, where a fire broke out on the night of December 2, destroying the houses of all 21 families.

On behalf of Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam, Nawabganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Zillur Rahman distributed two bundles of corrugated tin and financial support to each affected family. 

The UNO said that after receiving information about the incident on Wednesday, the Deputy Commissioner's Office promptly allocated tin and relief funds from its relief department.

Meanwhile, Upazila BNP president Md. Tariqul Islam said that BNP National Standing Committee member and Dinajpur-6 parliamentary candidate Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain instructed District BNP Vice President Md. Atiqur Rahman Raja Master to provide additional support to the affected families.

At 10 am today, leaders and activists of Upazila BNP and allied organizations visited the affected area and provided financial assistance. 

They met with the family of Rais Uddin, the elderly man who died in the fire, and called for a speedy investigation into the incident along with rehabilitation measures for the victims.
