KHULNA, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhter Ahmed today informed that the Non-Formal Education Bureau has launched a series of vocational programmes, including pilot projects in several districts, to boost literacy and practical skills among disadvantaged adolescents.

He made the remarks while addressing a day-long "Youth Festival 2025 and Pre-Vocational Activity Orientation Workshop" at the Khulna Officers' Club auditorium, under the slogan "Let's Change the Country, Change the World."

The programme was jointly organised by the Khulna district administration and the District Non-Formal Education Bureau.

Speaking at the event, the divisional commissioner said that considering the country's resources, the population is comparatively large, making hands-on education and vocational training crucial for improving livelihoods sustainably.

He added that every individual has tremendous potential, courage and energy which, if effectively harnessed, can turn the population into productive human resources.

Director General of the Non-Formal Education Bureau Debabrata Chakraborty delivered the welcome address.

Khulna Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas presided over the programme, while Additional Divisional Commissioner (Education & ICT) Debprasad Pal spoke as special guest.

Officials from various government departments, teachers from Khulna Khalishpur Satellite Town Secondary School and Bangovashi Secondary School, as well as disadvantaged students, took part in the event.

Later, the divisional commissioner distributed saplings among students and handed out prizes to winners of sports competitions participated in by disadvantaged children.
