NARAIL, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - Martyred Intellectuals Day was observed with due dignity and solemnity in the district today.

Marking the day, wreaths were laid at the mass killing site adjacent to the District Judge Court at 7:00 am and at the mass grave at the Water Development Board office premises at 7:15 am. 

The martyred intellectuals were remembered with deep respect on the occasion.

Narail Deputy Commissioner Dr Mohammad Abdul Salam, Narail District Council Chief Executive Officer Md Asaduzzaman, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Al Mamun Sikder, Deputy Director of Local Government Julia Sukaina, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Lincon Biswas, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Ahsan Mahmud Russel, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Sarmina Sattar, Additional District Magistrate Hosne Ara Tanni, freedom fighters S A Baki and Md Tabibur Rahman, Narail Press Club Vice-President Sultan Mahmood, and Ansar-VDP District Adjutant Md Nurul Absar were present.

Later, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office, highlighting the significance of Martyred Intellectuals Day.

Besides, special prayers and supplications were offered at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas and other places of worship across the district, seeking peace, prosperity and progress of the nation.
