Doa mahfil, discussion held in KPC seeking eternal peace of Khaleda Zia

KHULNA, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) - A discussion meeting and doa mahfil were held at the Khulna Press Club (KPC) this morning seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

At the outset of the programme, participants observed a one-minute silence standing in honour of Begum Khaleda Zia. 

Following the discussion, a special doa mahfil was held. Prayers were also offered seeking the well-being of Tarique Rahman, son of late President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia. 

The discussion meeting and doa mahfil were held at the Humayun Kabir Balu Auditorium of the Khulna Press Club with Club Convener Enamul Haque in the chair. Member Secretary Rafiul Islam Tutul and Executive Member Ahmad Musa Ranju conducted the meeting.

Speakers at the discussion said Begum Khaleda Zia is universally recognised as an unparalleled symbol of uncompromising leadership in Bangladesh’s political history. 

Through her political wisdom, sacrifice, courage and steadfast stance, she established herself at the centre of the country’s democratic movement. 

They described her as an uncompromising, humane and national leader, and one of the key architects of Bangladesh’s democratic governance.

Among others, Executive Members of the club Md Mizanur Rahman Milton, Kaushik Dey and Ashraful Islam Noor, BFUJ Assistant Secretary General Ehteshamul Haque Shawon, Khulna Press Club members Md Ershad Ali, Mostafa Jamal Poplu, Md Zahidul Islam, Md Hedayet Hossain Molla, Mohammad Milon, Sheikh Liaquat Hossain, Abdur Razzak Rana, K M Ziaus Sadat, Khalilur Rahman Suman, Nazmul Haque Pappu, S M Noor Hasan Jony, Yasin Arafat Rumi, Md Bellal Hossain Sajal and other journalists also spoke on the occasion.
