Doa mahfil in Bagerhat honours memory of Begum Khaleda Zia

BAGERHAT, Jan. 6, 2026 (BSS) - A doa mahfil was held in Bagerhat seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The Bagerhat District Juba Dal organized the prayer meeting at the Shaltola District Council Auditorium in the city this afternoon.

Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain, BNP MP candidate for the Bagerhat-2 (Sadar-Kachua) constituency, delivered a speech as the chief guest, while Md Sujan Mollah, former General Secretary of Bagerhat District Jubo Dal, 
presided over the program.

In his speech as the chief guest, he said that the contributions of national 
leader Begum Khaleda Zia to the struggle for restoring democracy and 
establishing human rights in the country will be remembered in history 
forever. He added that today's gathering was to pray for the repose of her 
soul and prayed that Allah Almighty grant her Jannatul Firdous.

Former Dhaka University CPA VP Rafiqul Islam Jaglu, acting convener of 
Municipal Jubo Dal Md Sumon Paik, acting convener of Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal 
Md Abul Hasan, former PC College VP Sardar Nasir Uddin Loni, and member-
secretary of District Ulama Dal Maulana Zahidul Islam attended the program.
