DHAKA, Jan 7, 2026 (BSS)- Former lawmaker and BNP central committee member MA Khaleque, who was recently dismissed from the party, met BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman this evening.

The meeting took place at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan, party sources said.

The development has sparked fresh political discussions and speculation within the party, particularly regarding the Brahmanbaria-6 constituency.

MA Khaleque was expelled from the BNP on December 30 last year for allegedly carrying out organizational activities in defiance of party decisions, according to a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He was denied nomination by the BNP for the upcoming national parliamentary elections. Subsequently, Khaleque announced his intention to contest the polls as an independent candidate, which led to his dismissal from the party.
